Mission Statement
Our Mission
Sláinte an Chláir, Clare Cancer Support’s mission and aim is to provide support for all people living with cancer — including families and friends — in a safe, positive, caring and confidential environment.
Our Values
Since our founding, Sláinte an Chláir has been guided by a set of core values that shape everything we do:
- Compassion — We treat every person who comes through our doors with warmth, empathy and genuine care.
- Confidentiality — We provide a safe space where people can speak openly about their experiences without fear of judgement.
- Inclusivity — Our services are open to everyone affected by cancer in the Clare area, regardless of background or circumstances.
- Community — We believe in the power of community support. No one should have to face cancer alone.
- Accessibility — All our services are provided completely free of charge, ensuring financial concerns are never a barrier to support.
What We Provide
Sláinte an Chláir operates cancer support centres in Kilnamona and Raheen, County Clare. Our centres serve as a home from home for people on their cancer journey, offering:
- A welcoming drop-in environment with kitchen and tea area
- Psychological, social and emotional support
- Cancer Man to Man support group for men
- Cancer information and awareness campaigns
- Annual Healing Mass and community events
- Partnership with the HSE National Advocacy Unit for quality development
Our members describe the centre as “a little piece of heaven”, “a home from home” and “a piece of sunshine on a dark day”. The heart of Sláinte an Chláir is the kitchen and the table — a place where everyone is always welcome.
